The location of Leadville, Colorado means that each and every season here comes with its own distinct benefits. For many visitors, that offers the opportunity to make several visits a year, and enjoy distinctly different experiences.
Regardless of the season you visit in, make sure you prepare yourself accordingly. If you’re coming in the summer, make sure you pack sunscreen. And if you’re here in the early spring or late fall, bring plenty of warm clothes as the evenings can be chilly.
Daily winter temperatures can range from -5°C to -20°C. In the summer, they range from the mid-teens to 30°C. Depending on your location, you may be well protected by trees.
In the upper regions of of the park, we receive an average of about 1050 mm of snow per year. In the lower regions, the average is about 850 mm per year.
Prepare yourself for rain if you are coming in the summertime, as it generally rains every few days, and usually for several hours at a time. The winds can be strong, too, so come prepared.
